MUWEI joined key stakeholders in a Budget Review Meeting organized by the Mbale Network of Young People Living with HIV/AIDS (MNYPA), where district leaders emphasized the urgent need to prioritize youth issues in planning and budgeting. With over 75% of Uganda's population under 30, participants highlighted concerns around unemployment, drug misuse, and lack of reproductive health information, factors perpetuating youth vulnerability.

Findings & recommendations

The SRHR Advocacy Action Plan for 2024/25 showed only 0.498% of the district budget supports youth and health programs; participants called for greater investment.
Recommendations included allocating at least 1% of district budgets to youth-led programs, strengthening mentorship systems, and institutionalizing youth participation in planning.
MUWEI was commended for championing community engagement and accountability platforms that enhance coordination and reduce duplication.
