In May 2025, the Munyalisa Women Empowerment Initiative (MUWEI) joined the Health Unit Management Committees (HUMCs) orientation for eight health facilities in Mbale District, held at the District Hall. The engagement, led by the Mbale Network of Young People living with HIV/AIDS and District Health Team, aimed to enhance community participation and accountability in local health service delivery including adherence to HUMC composition guidelines.

MUWEI emphasized the role of functional HUMCs in co-developing work plans, overseeing budgets, and resolving facility-level conflicts.
Discussions called for inclusive representation — women, youth, persons with disabilities, and the elderly — and noted budget constraints affecting supervision and monitoring.
Participants highlighted the need to renew expired HUMC terms to ensure leadership continuity and adherence to national health governance guidelines.

MUWEI's participation reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening grassroots health governance and promoting community-led oversight for equitable, responsive, and sustainable healthcare across Eastern Uganda.
