On March 20, 2025, the Munyalisa Women Empowerment Initiative (MUWEI) participated in the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) Youth Constituency Engagement for Eastern Uganda, held in Mbale under the Global Fund framework. The forum brought together youth-led organizations, civil society, and government representatives to advance youth participation in Uganda's health governance.

MUWEI contributions & advocacy asks

Emphasized youth-friendly health infrastructure, investment in community-based organizations, and stronger safeguarding policies.
Raised concerns about funding freezes affecting HIV programs and youth peer support networks.
Advocated for a voting seat for youth on the CCM Board and for accelerated establishment of the AIDS Trust Fund.

MUWEI remains steadfast in promoting inclusive, gender-sensitive, women- and youth-driven health systems across the Elgon region and beyond.
